The New Bilton Community Association has been involved in the upkeep of two community gardens in Gladstone Green and Jubilee Park.

This allows local residents the opportunity to enjoy the greenery and open space while walking their dog and using the local park during the summer. 

Bee-friendly plants and drought-resistant herbs help improve the environment and create a long-lasting outdoor area. The gardens are managed by volunteers on a regular basis.

If your child is in Reception, Year 1 or Year 2, they will automatically be entitled to infant free school meals. However, after this, you will have to apply for free school meals.

Holiday Activity and Food Programme

The holiday activities and food (HAF) programme is for school-aged children in full-time education from reception to Year 11 (inclusive), who receive benefits related free school meals. The programme offers valuable support to families on lower incomes, giving young people the opportunity to access activities with a healthy meal provision over the main school holidays at Christmas, Easter and Summer.

Eligible families benefit from a holiday programme that has a variety of fun, engaging and enriching activities. This includes activities such as dance, multi-sports clubs, drama, arts and crafts, animal care and much more.

We would like to thank those who attended the latest tenant's Panel meeting on 6 June 2023 at Rogers Hall, Hillmorton. These meetings give us the opportunity to work with tenants to improve our services.

At the latest meeting there was a focus on improving the current Tenants handbook, in particular the section regarding damp and mould. Using information taken from existing resources, and the expertise of our damp and mould specialist who attended the meeting, we shared ideas for improving the content. There was discussion and clarification around which prevention measures needed to be implemented by the tenant and which should be implemented by the landlord. This information will be added to the Tenants handbook.

Join Warwickshire Wildlife Trust for a FREE  afternoon of nature and wellbeing activities in Caldecott Park.

Every Tuesday 12:30 – 2pm in Caldecott Park during term time,

Activities are suitable for both adults and children.  A hot drink is also included.

Need to discuss a general issue relating to your home or rent payments?

A member of the housing team will be available every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday 10am – 4.00pm at the Town Hall.

A member of the rent team will be available every Tuesday and Thursday between 10am -4.00pm.

Please drop in to have a discussion with one of our officers. We do hope this service helps our tenants with any queries they may have.

 

Our programme of estate walkabouts gives you the chance to join council officers on a walk around your community - and can help us make a difference to where you live.

Walkbouts give you the opportunity to speak to officers from a wide range of council teams - including housing services, property repairs and independent living co-ordinators. 

We have been consistent in visiting areas and dealing with fly-tipping issues etc. Housing officers, Independent living coordinators, Communities and Project officers and Property repairs personnel have been attending the walkabout. Why not join one of the next walkabouts in your area?

24 December 1923 to 17 March 2023

Marjory Oakes was born on Christmas Eve 1923 in Spennvmoor, County Durham, and was the eldest of 5 children. 

In 1940 she, along with 15 other northern girls aged around 17 years old were sent to Rugby to work in the factories. She was allocated to Lodge Plugs on St Peter's Road making ammunition for the war effort. All of the girls were billeted in Overslade Hostel on Buchanan Road

After meeting her husband and having their first child, Marjory and her family moved into a Rugby Borough Council dwelling - a bungalow on Reservoir Road, Brownsover. In 1952 after their second child, they were rehoused into a 3-bedroom house on the newly built Glebe Estate. In 2008 Marjory moved to a ground-floor flat at Dickinson Court on Barby Road. Although Marjory found it hard to leave the friends she had made on the Glebe, she soon made lots of new friends and her old friends from the Glebe came to visit her in her new home. 

Sadly, having lived at Dickinson Court for 14 years Marjory passed away in UHCW on the 17th March 2023.

Marjory will be deeply missed.
