Energy and water bills
If you're struggling to pay your energy bills, Act On Energy offers free and impartial advice to householders and small businesses.
Act On Energy can check whether you qualify for grant support and offer advice on how to cut your energy bills and keep your home warm.

Severn Trent
Severn Trent has increased its support for customers on low incomes struggling to pay water bills with the launch of a ÂŁ30 million fund.
The Big Difference Scheme offers a discount of up to 90 per cent for any Severn Trent customer with a household income of below ÂŁ18,278.
You can apply online and should your application be approved, you'll receive a new, personalised payment plan, which includes payments towards any debt on your account.
Severn Trent also has a number of other schemes to support customers struggling with water bills.

Cold Weather payments
You may get cold weather payments if you’re getting certain benefits or support for mortgage interest.
If you’re eligible, you’ll get these payments automatically. You do not need to apply, but you may need to tell Jobcentre Plus if you have a baby or if a child under 5 comes to live with you.
The payments do not affect your other benefits.
You’ll get a payment if the average temperature in your area is recorded as, or forecast to be, zero degrees celsius or below over 7 consecutive days.
You’ll get £25 for each 7 day period of very cold weather between 1 November 2024 and 31 March 2025.

Pension credit and winter fuel payments
Pension Credit is payable to anyone of State Pension age (aged 66 years or older) who is on a low income. If you are eligible for Pension Credit you will also be eligible for a winter fuel payment.
Warm Home discounts
The Warm Home discount scheme is a one-off ÂŁ150 discount off your electricity bill.
If you’re eligible, your electricity supplier will apply the discount to your bill. The money is not paid to you.
You’ll usually get the discount automatically if you’re eligible.
You may be able to get the discount on your gas bill instead if your supplier provides you with both gas and electricity and you’re eligible. Contact your supplier to find out.

Local welfare scheme
