The Valuation Office Agency is writing to customers who have not responded to requests for information about their self-catering property. They are asking them to complete the ‘Application for business rates for self-catering properties’.

Without this information they are unable to assess whether the self-catering property qualifies for business rates or Council Tax. If they do not receive this information, they will move properties from business rates to Council Tax. 

If a property no longer meets the self-catering criteria for business rates, the alteration to both lists will be effective from 1 April 2023. Customers will receive formal notification of the Valuation Office Agency's decision which will also let them know what to do if they disagree.
