Information for private sector landlords
Landlords who rent out accommodation have a responsibility to ensure rented properties present no hazards which could pose a significant threat to the health and safety of the occupier or visitors.
Generally, the landlord has responsibility for:
- the structure of the property
- the installations within the property (eg water, gas and electricity, sanitation, drainage, heating)
